Proper position
- Load a long bar on one side only.
- Wedge the unloaded side against a wall on the floor.
- Hold the bar with both hands in a neutral grip near the weights.
- Bend your knees slightly and lean your torso forward until it's almost parallel to the ground (keeping your back straight), with your buttocks slightly back and your gaze towards the horizon. Your arms are vertical, almost straight.
Movement
- Bring the bar up close to your torso, flexing your arms and retracting your shoulder blades.
- Keep your elbows close to your body.
- Hold for one second, then slowly lower back to the starting position.
Breathing
- Inhale on the way down and exhale on the way up.
