Proper Position
- Place a bench or step under the Smith machine to lie down in a stable position.
- Lie on your back beneath the bar, placing your feet on the bar at hip-width apart, with your toes slightly pointed outward.
- Ensure your knees are aligned with your toes and keep your legs slightly bent in the starting position.
- Hold the bar lightly for stability if necessary.
Movement
- Unlock the bar by rotating the safety hooks, then slowly lower the bar by bending your knees. Lower until your thighs are close to your torso, staying within a comfortable range of motion.
- Push through your heels to press the bar back to the starting position, without fully locking your knees.
- Maintain control throughout the movement to avoid jerky motions.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Breathing
- Inhale as you lower the bar.
- Exhale as you press back to the starting position.
