Proper Position
- Hold a dumbbell in each hand, arms by your sides, palms facing your body.
- Stand in front of a step or platform with your feet hip-width apart.
- Keep your back straight, shoulders relaxed, and core engaged for a stable posture.
Movement
- Step backward off the step with one foot, lowering your body by bending the front knee.
- Keep the front knee aligned with the ankle, and avoid letting it go past your toes.
- Push through the front foot to step back up onto the platform and return the rear foot to the starting position.
- Alternate legs with each repetition or complete all reps on one side before switching.
Breathing
- Inhale as you step backward and lower yourself.
- Exhale as you push through the front foot to return to the starting position.
