Proper Position
Hold a dumbbell in each hand, arms by your sides, palms facing your body.
Stand in front of a step or platform with your feet hip-width apart.
Keep your back straight, shoulders relaxed, and core engaged for a stable posture.
Movement
Step backward off the step with one foot, lowering your body by bending the front knee.
Keep the front knee aligned with the ankle, and avoid letting it go past your toes.
Push through the front foot to step back up onto the platform and return the rear foot to the starting position.
Alternate legs with each repetition or complete all reps on one side before switching.
Breathing
Inhale as you step backward and lower yourself.
Exhale as you push through the front foot to return to the starting position.
