Instructions

Proper Position

  • Sit on a stable bench with your knees bent at approximately 90°.
  • Place a barbell across the top of your thighs, just above your knees, and hold it with your hands to stabilize it.
  • Position the balls of your feet on a platform or step to allow a full range of motion, with your heels hanging off the edge.

Movement

  • Slowly push through the balls of your feet to lift your heels as high as possible, contracting your calf muscles.
  • Lower your heels slowly and in a controlled manner until they drop slightly below the platform level.
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Breathing

  • Inhale as you lower your heels.
  • Exhale as you lift onto the balls of your feet.
