Proper Position
- Sit on a stable bench with your knees bent at approximately 90°.
- Place a barbell across the top of your thighs, just above your knees, and hold it with your hands to stabilize it.
- Position the balls of your feet on a platform or step to allow a full range of motion, with your heels hanging off the edge.
Movement
- Slowly push through the balls of your feet to lift your heels as high as possible, contracting your calf muscles.
- Lower your heels slowly and in a controlled manner until they drop slightly below the platform level.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Breathing
- Inhale as you lower your heels.
- Exhale as you lift onto the balls of your feet.
