Proper position and movement
- Take an appropriate medicine ball. As a guide, aim for 5-10% of your body weight.
- Hold the medicine ball at chest height, define your shoulders and engage your trunk.
- Start by squatting, then when you return to a standing position, simultaneously press down on the medicine ball. Aim for full hip extension and shoulder flexion, maintaining posture and balance.
- Bring the medicine ball back against your chest, continuing with a squat. Repeat for desired number of reps.
Breathing
- Inhale into flexion.
- Exhale into extension.
